Desktop Guide to Reentry for Juvenile Confinement Facilities

Through a grant from OJJDP's Reentry Initiative, CPRD completed research and produced a desktop guide to ease the transition process for juveniles returning to their communities. Crowding in Juvenile Detention Centers: A Problem Solving Manual

In 1998, the National Juvenile Detention Association in partnership with the Youth Law Center developed a comprehensive and practical approach to addressing the problems of overcrowding described in Conditions of Confinement in Juvenile Detention and Corrections Facilities published in 1994 by Abt Associates under an OJJDP grant. The result was Crowding in Juvenile Detention Centers: A Problem Solving Manual. Crowding in Juvenile Detention Centers: Practitioner Perspectives on What to Do About It

Continued partnership between the National Juvenile Detention Association and the Youth Law Center to combat crowding in juvenile detention facilities resulted in the 1999 publication of a monograph entitled, Crowding in Juvenile Detention Centers: Practitioner Perspectives on What to Do About It. Its scope encompasses practitioner advice and guidance on successful efforts to prevent and reduce crowding and highlights key topics and issues identified throughout the technical assistance process.
